Sumatra (spelling KBBI: Sumatra) is the sixth largest island in the world located in Indonesia, with an area of 473,481 km². The island's population is about 52,210,926 (census 2010). The island is also known by other names namely Percha Island, Andalas, or Suwarnadwipa (Sanskrit, meaning "golden island"). Then the inscription of Padang Roco in 1286 is inscribed swarnnabhūmi (Sanskrit, meaning "golden ground") and bhūmi mālayu ("Tanah Melayu") to refer to this island. Furthermore, in the Negarakertagama manuscript of the 14th century also again called "Earth Malayu" (Malay) for this island.
